Questions: Kingdom Come

The tension!  The moral dilemma!  The ridiculous costumes!  OMGBATMANROBOTS!  (spoilers, sorry)  This book has everything!  Now, what do we think?

1) The story is experienced through the eyes of Norman McKay, a pastor and friend to the recently deceased golden age hero (not to be confused with the Gaiman version), Sandman.  What is his importance to the story and as a storytelling tool?

2)  How did you feel about the characterization of the large cast of superheroes (outside of Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman)?  Did you like them, or did you think it was too vague for readers not familiar with the DC universe?

3)  Kingdom Come illuminates a civilian DC world full of the smaller changes superheroes could bring (themed restaurants, special bars).  Do we like it?  What other things only tangentially related to superheroes might exist or change due to their existence?

4) Who had the right on the violence issue, Superman or Wonder Woman?  Was Magog correct in killing The Joker?  Were the Amazons justified in dismissing Wonder Woman from her duties?

5) Why did the story hinge on the decisions and actions of Captain Marvel, a lesser known character who spends most of the story brainwashed?

6) It seems obvious that locking up a bunch of rebellious superpowered beings in a prison together was a horrible idea.  What would have been some better options to accomplish Superman's goals?

7) It is revealed that Lois Lane has died some years prior, murdered by the Joker.  This leaves room for the Superman/Wonder Woman relationship to blossom.  Are they suited to each other as a couple on all levels, or only on a physical level?

8)  The X-Men series, Kingdom Come, and numerous other comics have tackled the issue of racism, pointing out the tension between mutants/metahumans and humans. Has this become a tired cliche in comics? What other societal issues have comics successfully or unsuccessfully tackled?

9) Does Aquaman deserve to be so angry about Wonder Woman's request?  Does ruling over the world's oceans give him a right to ignore the surface?

10) How do we feel about Batman's methods in both controlling crime in Gotham and investigating Lex Luthor?  Are bat-robots a good idea?  Would YOU put Batman in charge of your child?
